We just #RHoK'd it in DC with some amazing hackers young and old. And! it was AMAZING.

We just held DC contribution to a Global Hackathon RHoKDC solved some local community challenges and did it with DC Public Schoolers, parents and staff; a cadre of some #DCTECH hastati and it #rhokdc

Of the two challenges we were able to accept 1 app was for the students & parents  ~Android and Apple marketplaces shortly. The other was for the Teachers and Staff and they can use it starting Monday morning.

I'll have pictures and more information later, since I have  a few details to attend to as part of my deliverables;  However I wanted to take the time to say
I've been doing this computer stuff since 1976 and this was one of the best experiences I've had hands down.
Bringing the kids, educators, parents into these events is required by common sense.

We've added sponsorship opportunities for upcoming RHoKDCdec13 Hackathon

With all of the exciting things being planned for our upcoming Random Hacks of Kindness event at Alice Deal Middle School we added a couple of sponsors tickets to our eventbrite page.

So we have set them at Silver and Bronze with one of the Silver already being accepted by GITHUB (SHOUT OUT TO THEM)  leaving one more and currently 4 Bronze Sponsorships

So instead of letting everyone know what we're doing for the sponsors how about we let the everyone know what we're doing for the Middle Schoolers, Hackers and Challenge Seekers

We have assembled some of the best minds in Cloud, CrisisCamps, Data, Hackathons, Mapping and Social Media to attended in person and a couple of them vitally,  we have extensive educational opportunities for people to learn from them and then hack a challenge brought by the community at large or the school.

During this time we'll be communicating with other RHoKs via social media and Ustream and letting the community know via a live blogging via one of DC most bloodiest blogger's and we're to understand that a local video cameraman is coming to document it as well.

At the end of this hackathon RHoKDC expect to present a couple of finished hacks and some projects that are being considered for wider adoption.

So to do this we'll need a couple of Community Star to setup and become an underwriter or sponsor of this event.  Please let Nelson Jacobsen know if you have any questions. or you can send us a tweet @HelpEarthdotorg

Tweet Clicker MicroMappers is completed great job WORLD.

Having jumped on the #MicroMapper effort on Crowdcrafting at the start to see it finnish is really something that everyone involved should be proud and know that not every moment on the inter tubes is wasting time. Our time as a collective did something that CrisisMappers have been dreaming about.   Crowd Sourcing the volumes of information these CrisisMapping effort typically yield.

As you can see the tutorial for getting up and going as a MicroMapper is very easy and the task was helped by a very simple interface which pipe-lined a mother load of data that was made use of us digital responders funneling it to chunks of manageable data. This way the responders on the ground and disaster managers looking at how to deploy the very limited resources and time they must deal with during something so massive that it over whelms a nation have thousands of Social Media Citizen now helping out.  And getting people to response was a simple as sending out a tweet and posting it on blogs.

Welcome to now, when Marginal Utility of Public Good is something that young and old both can sink their personal capital into and see a direct results.  This is something truly remarkable and some what like the Overview Effect it makes one believe in the Oneness and Humanity of so Many.

As they say down under Good on You Mate(s)

So lots of discussion has been held over the years, specifically in Washington, DC, about the state of education and what can we do about it.

From Think tanks to conferences the powers that be have held sway as to the where and when this happens.  And, over and over someone will standup, often a maverick teacher or CommunityStar, and ask when are we going to involve the kids in the process since this is going to impact them or it's being done for they're benefit. Really it is.

This is not just a concern of educators, I've had this conversation with some of the vanguard of this new movement called social media citizens and since it's empathy and unmitigated love for all of they're fellow inhabitants of this great planet noticing that we haven't gotten to kids is not uncommon and it's time to do something about it.

So this December Help Earth Foundation and Random Hacks of Kindness are going to host the Washington, DC Hackathon at a District of Columbia Public Middle School. Details will be released on Monday Nov 4th.    However the point is we're going to hack issues and solutions with the aid of 6th -8th graders.
While the same key folks are can be found at the CrisisCamps, RHoKs, or Unconferences and if it was said we need to get more kids at more then one of them it was one time to many.
Since HEF as been part of Random Hacks of Kindness since the 1st Hackathon here in DC at the FriendshipHeights Microsoft office and the last two at the World Bank offices this is quite a departure from the corporatization of Hacks for Good.

This Hackathon is a shift in a number of ways since not only are we engaging the youth we've asked the community via listservs, introductions and personal contacts to come and take part with the end goal of for this community being able to better serve itself, be better organized, resilient and participating with other Social Media Citizens the world over.

We under under stand that often the good is not always achieved and those it's meant to serve are long forgotten after the press releases and social media surge as faded from memory.  However with a goal of #5wins we believe we'll start the foundation to Help Earth one community at a time.

About.me is good place to start to find out about Help Earth.

So if you're like us, finding and signing up for social media accounts (SMA) is just what we do.  So now that you have all these accounts how do you get them registered and inter communicating with one another.

We been very impressed with About.me enough so to get our page updated (sure the graphics can be updated) however we have one place that works with our SMA. So take a look and see how many services you can find to connect with Help Earth Foundation.

The one thing we seen working with CrisisFreeAgents is that they can show up anywhere and being able to locate and gleam information about a potential individual or group during "All Hazards" needs to be just a click away. And now it is.  http://about.me/helpearth
